The World's 27 Million Dirtiest Secrets

The first chapter that I have chosen to explore is Chapter 12: Sexuality. This chapter discusses many topics including sex & culture, contemporary sexual attitudes & behavior, and sex & social issues. The topic that I have chosen to focus on is the international sex trades. Today, millions of lives around the world are held in bondage, many of them in the world of sexual trafficking. More children, women and men are held in slavery right now than over the course of the entire trans-Atlantic slave trade. Nearly 2 million children are subjugated in the commercial sex industry. Sex is marketed in an international marketplace, and sex slaves are used to promote tourism, cater to business and military men, and support a huge industry of nightclubs, massage parlors, and teahouses. (Anderson, 286). While this is a huge international issue, I think it would come as a surprise to people that it is happening in the United States. I have chosen this topic in hopes to increase awareness and hopefully inspire people to provoke change.
